Yesterday I spent the afternoon in Evergreen, Colorado, enjoying the warm weather and seeing interesting sights. I especially liked how the area around Evergreen Lake has been built up with an observation boardwalk and areas to have picnics. In front of the large log building, known as the Lake House, stands a reddish-brown bronze statue of a woman.
As I read the plaque a friend who recently passed away came to mind. A friend who never got to hear me say good-bye to her but who keeps me remembering her by different things that happen to me or I see along my life.
Again, she came to mind as I walked along the boardwalk and happened to see a knothole in the planks of wood. I know, images are seen on toast, in clouds and in reflections but I saw an angel with wings outstretched on the wood. My second thought was maybe it looked like a butterfly, yet, either way, my friend came to mind again!
"You and I will meet again
when we're least expecting it.
One day in some far off place
I will recognize your face.
I won't say good-bye my friend,
For you and I will meet again."
