Curiosity made me go the Internet to find out more about the Lava Lamp. It was invented in 1963 by an English man named Edward Craven Walker. The lamp was popular from 1963 until some time in the 1980's when it lost its popularity. The original name for the lamp was Astro Glow or Lava Lite
and the most expensive light was mentioned that it sold for $15,000. A 4' lamp holds 10 gallons of lava formula so who knows the size of the $15,000 lamp! Lamps are now made in China can now be purchased in Novelty stores or through Internet companies with the price ranging from $12 - $40.
The only quote I found about a lava lamp:
"Boys are like Lava lamps,
fun to look at but not all
that bright!"
