When I see a person in their 90's who is sharp and seems to function better than I do, I am truly amazed. I belong to a group from Spirit of Christ Parish in Arvada, Colorado called Young at Heart. There are over 400 members and many I have met are in their eighties. The surprising thing is that no one looks or acts their age!Yesterday, August 1, Ollie celebrated her 90th birthday by attending a board meeting for the group. She is the historian of the group and every month, except for the summer months, she creates the YAH newsletter. The newsletter is always timely, interesting, well-written, and lively with a joke. If she is given a name of someone in the past or present, she can tell us all about that person. I am in my seventies and cannot remember someone from last month, much less from thirty or forty years ago!
I see her at different functions at the church and the only complaint I have heard from her is, "my arthritis bothers me and keeps me from doing all I would like to do."
Hurray for Ollie.
May she enjoy many more years.
