What is yellow, white, or purple and finds its way out of a half-frozen ground? It seems early but today I saw the first crocus. One lone flower peeking out of the brown ground. Amazing that in years past I have seen a flower pop out while there is snow on the ground. A very hardy flower!
I loved seeing the yellow flower today because I got the feeling that spring must be near. Or, I hope spring is near because I am tired of the cold and snow.
"It takes courage to be crocus minded. God, I would rather wait until June, when the hazards of winter are safely behind...knifing through hard-frozen ground and snow, sticking their necks out, because they believe in spring and have something personal and emphatic to say about it."
